Potty Training aaaahhh

 I'm in the middle of training my 3 year old son.......yes I said 3.  My first son trained at 2.5 years and I can't understand why my second couldn't be the same, if not sooner. I know boys take longer then girls, but I didn't think this long.  I have tried all the "you should do this" and nothing.  After no success I decided to stop trying for a couple of weeks to give him and I a break.  Two weeks passed and I decided to go a root I swear I never would..........I bought pull ups.  Now we were ready!  No more changing underwear, pants and socks 5 times a day.  I gave him the "big boys don't pee in there underwear , you tell mommy when you have to go" speech .  So after two bags I decided to go back to diapers because I got more for the money.  I was going crazy!!!  I just keep thinking is this boy ever going to train or will he be going to college wearing diapers......lol.....ok that's a bit much, but seriously he knows everything you say and can talk in sentences that would surprise his dad and I lots of times, but still refuses to train?  This does not make sense.  Now the funniest thing is I now have him going to the bathroom, if he has no pants on, the second he has something on, mistakes happen.  He can also go through the night dry, so he does not wear a diaper to bed.  So right now were staying home hoping things will progress to a fully trained little boy.  For the time being I don't know what else to do.
